Yeah but he wasn't terrible either and 1 year at 900,000 is a drop in the hat.
It is not really a transaction, but the Yankees offer Lee 7 years... They must be crazy. If he doesn't live up to the expectations they will never get rid of him by trading him... Nice thinking Cashman.
Well they already got a big money, long term contract dud in AJ Burnett. What's one more.
And that is a bust so far. Remember that Lee was sent down to the minors not so long ago? It is not the first time that the Yankees jump on a guy that is having one or two good years. By the time this seven years contract is over, Lee will be 39. You can wonder if he will still be able to pitch then.
I think 7 years is a mistake but the Yanks are a bit desperate at this point for another Starting Pitcher.
MiLB.com states that the Yankees signed Mark Prior to a minor league contract with an invitation to ST.
Old news in the mean time, but the Yankees signed Pettitte to a one year contract extension.
If he can hang on to the shape he had last season he will be quite reliable. If AJ can bounce back from his disastrous season, we will have quite a good rotation in CC, AJ, Pettitte, Hughes and....? Maybe Ivan Nova?
Somehow I hope that the Yankees will sign Soriano. But at what price? I think he may be a good suitor when Mo retires.
The Yankees have signed Luis Vizcaino to a minor league contract. If he makes the team he can earn up to 750,000 dollar.
I am not too happy with this signing. I remember him as not so good during his last stint with the Yankees.
