Dodgers nearing deal with Bobby Abreu

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported earlier on Twitter that the Dodgers and Abreu were in "serious talks."

Now Jon Morosi is reporting a source told him the deal is near.

He would be a left-handed bat off the bench and will occasionally play the OF.

This would be a nice pick up for the Dodgers with little risk in a bench role.

The Angels are still responsible for his salary. The Dodgers would only have to pay Bobby Abreu the league minimum, I believe. The Angels owe him $9M this year. My numbers could be off, but from what I remember hearing, that's what I believe it was.

At this rate, I’d be surprised if Abreu isn’t in uniform at Wrigley Field Friday.

I am not willing to assume Kemp will hit the 80+ home runs he is tracking, so we need all the offence we can get LOL
