    1906: Jesse Tannehill pitches a 2-hitter against Chicago, as Boston wins 3-0 and snaps a 20-game losing streak. The streak was the longest in AL history at the time. 19 of the 20 defeats came at home.

    1961: Carroll Hardy pinch hits for Carl Yastrzemski in the 8th inning and reaches on a bunt single. He becomes the only player ever to pinch hit for both Ted Williams and Yastrzemski.

    1907: Star third baseman Jimmy Collins is traded to the Philadelphia Athletics for John ''Schoolboy'' Knight. Collins was also the team's first manager, and won two pennants and the first ever World Series.
