Thumbs down You can't be serious...

We're approximately two-weeks into the regular season, and Major League Baseball has ALREADY opened All-Star balloting....

Why do we even have an All-Star game at this point? This is ridiculous.

I saw that today and was thinking the same thing. Most of these guys don't even have 50 at-bats on the season yet we're already voting for the ASG.

They're taking away the value of being an all-star, a little more each year.

In my opinion the ASG always has been a popularity contest. This move by Selig & Co proves my point again.

Like Buccos said. Most of them didn't even have 50 at bats.

I'd say: Boycott the whole thing.

I've been saying this for years.

But trust me, before you know it, we'll all be in a lather about who made it and who didn't -- exactly the kind of "press" that MLB and TV want in order to keep the whole thing going.

I stopped paying attention to ASGs years ago. I will usually watch the HR derby competition and totally avoid the game.-BH

Me too. I can't get excited about this vehicle. Especially now the home advantage of the WS is linked to it.

I saw this and was not surprised at all. Complete popularity contest at this point and IMO this is not a smart baseball move.

We will not see deserving players get in.

I will tune this out this year.

Marketing is the reason IMO. In this way they try to keep the fans interested.
