    Explain your avatar!

My avatar is my local independent league team, the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. Does anybody want to share the story of their avatar? I'm all ears...or eyes, depending on how you look at it.

First 5 in the HOF for me. Just takes awhile as I have the pictures set at 12 seconds apart.

My favorite player, Joe Crede, making one of his many fantastic stops. Reminds me of his heroics in the great 2005 White Sox season. It'll be awhile before another year like that one.

Joe Crede? Not bad. When I was little-little and I had no clue what was going on, my favorite player was bench-warming infielder Miguel Cairo. I still follow him. He's on the Reds, now, I believe, still bench-warming as always.

I am still upset that the Cubs waived Miguel Cairo because Don Baylor wanted to keep Augie Ojeda on the 25 man roster over a decade ago...

I love underrated players. While Konerko and Jermaine Dye got much of the credit on offense in 2005 and then Jim Thome in addition to those two in 2006, Crede quietly contributed in the clutch and with his glove. Out of the players I've seen, he had perhaps the greatest range in the hot corner. It's unfortunate his back led to his decline and eventually his retirement. His lack of a Gold Glove award is one of the main reasons why I never took that award seriously.

Scott Rolen in his prime says hello. But I understand the love of underrated players. Mark Bellhorn is one of my all time favorite players.

Well according to the ever popular UZR, Crede beat Rolen in 2006 (by 5.4), 2008 (by 1.4), and 2009 (by 6.4). Granted, no stat is completely accurate and Crede/Rolen both became oft-injured after 2006, but the UZR differences shows that Crede at least can be compete with Rolen in terms of defense, even if he really isn't better. But Crede never really got the type of talk Rolen got. He was just...quiet. And underrated. Did I ever mention that he was underrated?
