Boston Red Sox Red Sox 2011

Unless something dramatic happens, and soon, the Red Sox will not be in the postseason this year...so, what changes do we make for 2011? Here's what I say.

First. Pick up the option on Beltre.
    Second. Re-sign Victor.
    Third. Let Papelbon walk.
Fourth. Pick up the option on Atchison
    Fifth. Trade Matsuzaka.

Allow me to respond to this:

I highly doubt the first request will happen. Especially given that he has stated that he wants to be closer to his family.
The second request is an absolute must. If that were to happen, then we have to let Tek walk, which leads me to your 3rd and 5th requests.
Both Papelbon and Matsuzaka have GOT to go. No questions asked. Matsuzaka has been absolutely horrible for the last 2+ yrs. Papelbon was absolute disgrace this year.

From what I saw, Atchinson improved tremendously everytime he was out on the mound this year.

Now that Farrell (the former Pitching Coach) is the Manager of the Blue Jays, the RS have a coaching position (possibly 2, if Hale gets one of the remaining vacant Managerial positions) to deal with.

Beltre has in fact declined his option.

    Alright here's what I want/think will happen.

I don't think Beltre will be back. We are going to go big after one of the three major free agents at 1B in 2011 offseason, so I just don't see any room for Beltre, and I know he wont be taking another 1 year deal.

Resign Victor. He may not be able to throw many runners out, but he was the best offensive catcher in the AL last season. That's tough to replace.

Dump Dice and Cameron. There really is no room for Cameron. It's time to just call it a loss and let Dice go. I do not want him in the rotation next season, I'm really hoping Doubront can step up this spring and claim that #5 spot.

Sign Carl Crawford. While Crawford will be more expensive than Werth, I would really like to have his defense and speed threat. If we can't get Crawford, I don't mind taking Werth at all. But my first choice is obviously Carl Crawford.

We have got to make quite a few changes in that bullpen.

Let Jed Lowrie and Marco Scutaro battle it out in the spring for the starting SS job. Once Lowrie came back from mono, he looked damn good.

How many times do I have to tell people that Beltre has emphatically stated he wants to play on the West Coast?

I expect Beltre will follow through with that as well.

Well after trading for Adrian and signing Carl I think we are in a lot better position than we would have been resigning Vmart and Beltre.

Whatever it is I wish he would share it with Cashman as the Yanks have seemed DOA this off-season!
