    TV Deal

•The Padres' 20-year TV deal with FOX Sports San Diego is "all but finalized" and should be announced within one or two days, Dan Hayes of the North County Times reports. The deal could be worth $1 billion or more. "Life is good and I'll leave it at that," Padres majority owner John Moores said.

This just me but if im a SDP fan and found out owner is getting 1 billion over next 20 yrs i would expect them to start spending money on MLB payroll. They are always in bottom 5 MLB payrolls

Yeah, they will probably spend more, if only a slight amount of that. Of course as a Dbacks fan I hope they don't...

Even if they have one of the lowest payrolls, the were the second profitable team last year. Hard to believe eh?

The Yankees' link with the Netherlands since 1981

The Netherlands: 2011 World Champions baseball, beating Cuba twice (4-1 and 2-1)!!!!!

Not really, there are plenty of teams that have been making a ton in profit because they simply don't spend anything on payroll and pocket revenue sharing.

Why they need to make a min floor in MLB payroll also. Tell teams receiving revenue if you dont spend a certain number you lose that revenue. Why should big market owners pay small market owners to just have them pocket the money

Can't really argue against that idea. I know many owners have been upset about that for years.

They do, I don't think they ever release the numbers to the public, but I know MacPhail in the past confirmed that the Cubs would pay into revenue sharing.

Another reason for them to spend less on MLB payroll
