Miguel Sano has 3 homers 10 RBI and an OPS of 1.370 so far.
Twins recalled OF Ben Revere from Triple-A Rochester.
Revere is starting in center field on Thursday against the Tigers. He could see a good amount of playing time with the Twins battling multiple injuries, but the 24-year-old speedster doesn't get on base enough to warrant much attention in fantasy leagues.
The Twins will purchase the contract of right-hander Cole DeVries prior to Tuesday's game.
He'll fill Jason Marquis' spot in the rotation beginning Thursday. DeVries, a Minnesota native, has a 4.24 ERA and 37/7 K/BB ratio in 46 2/3 innings over eight starts at the Triple-A level this year. He's no sure thing to stick, so the 27-year-old can be ignored outside of deeper AL-only leagues.
Twins designated RHP Jason Marquis for assignment.
As expected. The Twins signed Marquis to a one-year, $3 million contract over the winter, but he's getting the boot after posting an awful 8.47 ERA through his first seven starts this season. However, we suspect he won't have any trouble finding a new home once he's available at the league minimum. Cole DeVries will be called up from Triple-A Rochester to replace him in the starting rotation.
Miguel Sano is currently tied for the MiLB HR leadership with 13.
It's not a done deal, but it's close: Lee County is poised to approve $41.6 million in upgrades to Hammond Stadium and the Lee County Sports Complex, the spring home of the Minnesota Twins.
The deal could keep the Twins in Fort Myers for the next 50 years, conceivably through 2065 (assuming the lease extension begins in 2015). The Lee County Board of Commissioners will vote on the proposal on Nov. 6.
The county will float $38 million in bonds, backed by tourism taxes, $15 million in payments from the state and an increased rent payment from the Twins, who will commit to 30 more years at the ballpark -- a term that can be extended by 20 more years with two 10-year options. (The Twins have also agreed to spend $3.8 million on player dorms at the complex.)
With this deal, Lee County will completely commit tourism taxes to spring training, between this deal and paying off construction loans on JetBlue Park, the spring home of the Boston Red Sox. Lee County has been wooing the Washington Nationals on a move to City of Palms Park, but with no money in an easily accessible pot for ballpark improvements, it's hard to see what sort of carrot can be offered to the Nats -- and with Kissimmee interested in attracting the team, City of Palms Park may be empty for the foreseeable future.

That would be a good deal for both the Twins and Ft. Myers. The Twins like it there and have done pretty well in the community.
Kyle Gibson started the Arizona Fall League Rising Stars game on Saturday. I watched him pitch on TV, having never had a chance to see him in person. He throws a good slider, a decent 2-seam fastball, and a change up. He also throws a 4-seamer, but it isn't as good as the other pitches. He needs to keep the ball down and cannot afford to make a mistake in the middle of the plate. His slider, when he starts it on the outside corner to a righty, will be nearly unhittable, as it breaks right off the end of the bat when the hitter swings at it. It has tight rotation and looks like a fastball coming out of his hand.
He might need a few more starts in AAA before he's ready to go in Minnesota, though.
Looking forward to seeing him in Target Field sometime next summer.
