    I look at veteran ballots as being for their whole career, manager, player, etc.

    I agree with Rex, as a Manager, I'd vote for Lopez. But as a player, no chance.

    I see that the actual 1977 veterans committee voted Lopez into the Hall for his contributions as a Manager. Thanks BobH for bringing this topic back up as I have amended my original ballot.

    Al's managing was excellent and, of, course that's why I voted for him. He had a long but rather mediocre playing career but...I agree...He deserves entry as a manager...not as a player.-BH
