Yoenis Cespedes gains residency in DR

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/0...-republic.html

Yoenis Cespedes has gained residency in the Dominican Republic according to agent Edgar Mercedes, reports MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez. The outfielder is now waiting to be declared a free agent by MLB.
The best fit for him would be Miami. With them trying to boost attendance and bring in a more latin influence to the team, they would definitely see more Cubans in the new stadium should Cespedes sign there.

Of course the Cubs want him. They seem to always spend money on Outfielders (Soriano, Fukudome, Byrd, Bradley) when they have younger/cheaper options on the farm.....they may never learn their lesson.

I am hoping for a Miami signing here...Where do you think he will go?

Voted Marlins, with the Fielder signing I really couldn't see Detroit stepping up to get Cespedes too, but stranger things have happened. As for the Cubs...I honestly don't view them as any more contender than the White Sox, O's, Nationals, and the Indians. As of now the only team that seems to have committed to an aggressive approach of Cespedes is Miami, so it's hard not to see them signing him from where I sit now.

Orioles? Duq has hit the international market full speed ahead. Would love to see him make a splash here and take a shot on Cespedes.

    They are def interested.

"Tonight was the exact same thing," Bundy said. "Going into each
start, they want me to work on my changeup. I'm going out there
throwing changeups and curveballs when I don't even need to."

Translation: Hitters can't even touch Bundy's
fastball, never mind get wood on a curve.

    Yoenis Cespedes Granted Free Agency

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/0...ee-agency.html

MLB has informed teams that Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is now a free agent, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports. Cespedes, a client of Adam Katz of Wasserman Media Group, recently gained residency in the Dominican Republic.
Oh well for reports last week of Cespedes having to wait 6 months after he establishes residency for admittance to the MLB.....i guess this means that he WILL be playing for a MLB team in 2012!

    Come on Marlins!!!

It can very well be that they keep him in the minors during his first season.

with the amount of money teams are going to shell out for this guy (30-50 million?) combined with his age, 26, i think he will immediately be a starter for whoever signs him.

Remember how much the Yankees spend on Igawa? He turned out to be the most expensive minor leaguer ever.... (I still think that he never got a fair chance again).

nobody has the money that the Yankees do. Chapman did spend time in the minors, but i think it is different for pitchers adjusting than it is for hitters.
