Sabres lose Ville Leino to injury

Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff has informed reporters that forward Ville Leino will be out several weeks with a lower-body injury.

What ails Leino remains unclear, though it’s believed he was hurt in last night’s 3-2 loss to Ottawa — the Finnish forward took just one shift in the final 9:25 of play, a 56-second turn that ended with just over a minute remaining.

Ville Leino is out indefinitely after sustaining what the team is calling a lower body injury.

Leino has played in 27 games for the Sabresthis season, collecting three goals and seven assists. One of those goals was a game-winner, but he is at a team worst -7.

Although he has struggled this season, Leino put up five points in the past seven games he has played.

It's the latest blow to an injury-riddled team that hasn't had a healthy lineup all season. The Sabres were missing six regulars against the Senators.
