So Bobby Valentine is back as a manager in the Bigs and he may be bringing back the infamous Bill Buckner to the Red Sox.
In a press conference, Valentine said he would consider the former Red Sox first baseman for his staff as a hitting coach. Buckner tallied 2,715 hits in his career which is not something to ignore. The man could hit. Sadly he is remembered more for "the one that got away" in the World Series.
I think this would be awesome for the Sox and classy on Valentines part.Valentine said he watched Buckner's kids grow up and, "I respect his every opinion, in baseball and worldy matters." But he says it's not about friendship. It's about who's best for the job.
