Boston Red Sox Bill Buckner Back?

So Bobby Valentine is back as a manager in the Bigs and he may be bringing back the infamous Bill Buckner to the Red Sox.

In a press conference, Valentine said he would consider the former Red Sox first baseman for his staff as a hitting coach. Buckner tallied 2,715 hits in his career which is not something to ignore. The man could hit. Sadly he is remembered more for "the one that got away" in the World Series.

Valentine said he watched Buckner's kids grow up and, "I respect his every opinion, in baseball and worldy matters." But he says it's not about friendship. It's about who's best for the job.
I think this would be awesome for the Sox and classy on Valentines part.

Common sense really, the guy could hit. Buckner could have preserved a tie, anything beyond that is pure projection.

    Batboy: Get a hit Crash!
    Crash: Shut up!

    Backer of Rockies and Yankees.

I never understood why the Mets didn't retire his number... (kidding). I never understood the animosity, Boston fans had for some years. I compare him with Steve Bartman. The Cubs fans needed a scape goat too.

Buckner had his rehabilitation at Fenway when he threw out the first pitch on Opening Day. (Not sure if it was in 2011 or 2010). He got a standing ovation.

I think that when he will be Boston's batting coach, the wounds may heal for good. And that is well deserved after so many years.

Can you believe that his kids were bullied at school because of that one infamous moment?

The Yankees' link with the Netherlands since 1981

The Netherlands: 2011 World Champions baseball, beating Cuba twice (4-1 and 2-1)!!!!!
