San Francisco Giants Tim Lincuem Long term or Short term?

Recently, reported on MLB Network, that Giants might just give him a long term deal and not cause big drama when he's a free agent in 2 years. Tim has said before that he like short term deals. He just might be getting a long one. When will this offer happen and when will he accept it?

Well he doesn't have to take a long term deal. No one can force him to do so. I see more short term deals in his future.

a big time pitcher like Lincecum wanting short-term deals? that is really weird. and i think is more team-friendly in the end. Sure, Lincecum could maximize his value and make more each time, but he is taking a big risk that he doesnt get injured. It's like a game of Russian Roulette

For sure with this guy, with his size and freak delivery. Lincecum is a market mint, hope he gets a long term contract and remains injury free. There is no other pitcher I enjoy the Rockies beating more then Lincecum.

Great pitcher...no doubt about it. I love watchin' the kid pitch. In some ways he reminds me of Greg Maddux.-BH

If I was the Giants management, I would be a little recitent with the season he had in 2011. I would wait and see what he will do in the 2012 season and make a decision then.

The Yankees' link with the Netherlands since 1981

The Netherlands: 2011 World Champions baseball, beating Cuba twice (4-1 and 2-1)!!!!!

What exactly did you not like about his 2011 season?

    Was it the 9.12 K/9?
Was it the 217 Innings Pitched?
    Was it that 2.74 ERA?
Was it the .218 Batting Average he allowed to the 900 MLB hitters he faced?
Was it the career best Strand Rate of 78.5%?
Or, was it the 6 losses he received while allowing 2 ER or less?

If you followed Lincecum in 2011, he was clear in stating all of last year he was trying to K hitters less and pitch to contact more.

The guy is a witch! He can pretty much do whatever he wants to from the bump. He is one of very few legitimate Aces in MLB. He is one of only a select number of MLB players that is a legitimate and big time box-office draw. He is one in a small minority of MLB Starters that have hardware and jewelry.

What exactly are you reticent about?
