I can't say they are not deserving but glad to see there were no Yankees on the list this time because there really wasn't a deserving Yankee this year.

Beltre and Gonzalez each earned $100,000 bonuses, while Aybar and Markakis get $75,000 apiece. Molina, Pedroia, Polanco and Votto each receive $50,000, and Tulowitzki and Buehrle both get $25,000. Phillips gets an automatic $250,000 raise next season to $12.25 million under the option the Reds exercised Monday.

I was surprised that Brett Gardner didn't get a GG since he led all left fielders in D saber stats. Really all outfielders but he does play LF.

    http://www.baseball-reference.com/le...fielding.shtml

This clickable header lets you see them all for left fielder but.............

BIS defensive runs saved above average, Gardner 22,Alex Gordan 4

total zone fielding runs above average, Gardner 32, Alex Gordan 10 which ties him for 2nd with Ryan Raburn

Then if you place very much value in d WAR, Gardner 3.2, Gordan .8

For what it's worth to ya, here is the Fielding Bibles saber GG winners...........

    http://www.billjamesonline.com/the_2..._bible_awards/

Here are the results of THE 2011 FIELDING BIBLE AWARDS:

FIRST BASE—ALBERT PUJOLS, ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (82 POINTS)
Winning his fifth Fielding Bible Award wasn't easy for Pujols, as he only edged out Adrian Gonzalez by 4 points, 82 to 78, in the closest race of any of the awards.

SECOND BASE—DUSTIN PEDROIA, BOSTON RED SOX (97 POINTS)
Despite already having a Gold Glove to his name and doing well in the voting in previous years, a Fielding Bible Award had eluded Pedroia until now. He was selected overwhelmingly this year, coming in 21 points better than runner-up Ben Zobrist.

THIRD BASE—ADRIAN BELTRE, TEXAS RANGERS (98 POINTS)
Beltre won this year's Fielding Bible Award pretty convincingly with 98 points out of a possible 100. However, last year's winner, Evan Longoria, didn't go down without a fight, garnering 90 points himself. No second place finisher at any other position had more than 78.

SHORTSTOP—TROY TULOWITZKI, COLORADO ROCKIES (94 POINTS)
Tulowitzki signed a huge contract extension last offseason. Clearly the Rockies wanted to make Tulo the rock of their defense for years to come, as this is the third time he has been honored with a Fielding Bible Award as the best defender at one of the most critical positions on the field.

LEFT FIELD—BRETT GARDNER, NEW YORK YANKEES (99 POINTS)
Gardner has established himself as one of the elite outfielders in the game. He saved an estimated 22 runs for his team this year, a total usually only seen amongst center fielders. As a result, he was only one point shy of being a unanimous selection for The Fielding Bible Award in left field.

CENTER FIELD—AUSTIN JACKSON, DETROIT TIGERS (89 POINTS)
Jackson has rewarded the Tigers for clearing space to make him their starting center fielder. His 22 Defensive Runs Saved led all center fielders, the second year in a row he has done that.

RIGHT FIELD—JUSTIN UPTON, ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS (84 POINTS)
With a down year from three-time Fielding Bible Award winner Ichiro Suzuki, the door was opened for a new honoree. Seven different players received first place votes, but Upton emerged from the pack as this year's winner, excelling on deeply hit balls where he fielded 18 more balls in 2011 than the average right fielder would have.

CATCHER—MATT WIETERS, BALTIMORE ORIOLES (97 POINTS)
This year Wieters unseated the winner of the last four Fielding Bible Award winners at catcher, Yadier Molina. Wieters led all catchers with 14 Runs Saved, and garnered 97 points as the overwhelming choice for this year's award.

PITCHER—MARK BUEHRLE, CHICAGO WHITE SOX (90 POINTS)
Buehrle again won this award handily. Runner up R.A. Dickey only had 61 points. This is Buehrle's third straight Fielding Bible Award, as he continues to field his position very well and is a master of controlling the running game. Only three of ten would-be base-stealers were successful against him, and he picked off two additional baserunners.

Years ago, when I bought previews on the season by the Sporting News or Petersen. One of those magazines contained an article with the title: "The golden glove is worth its weight in lead. Could it be that this article is right at times?

For sure, IMO, being a Yankee is the only reason that Jeter has won some GG's and could be the reason that Gardner lost out this year. Gardner was picked by many sites to win this year.

While I definitely agree that Gardner should have won, I think they did a better job overall this year than they often do.

ok, so looking at these deserving/not deserving deal, i can only guess who they think is better:

    AL

A-Gon > Cabrera ??? --it's a close call here. i think Cabrera's stats are more impressive since he did it in a park that is significantly less conducive to HR's, but the numbers at the end of the year could make it go either way

Pedroia > Cano? Cano was a beast this year

???? > Beltre??? Beltre to me was the clear winner in the AL

Andrus > Cabrera? i can see the argument here, but i think Cabrera's production in all aspects merits the award

    in the NL*****

Miguel Montero > McCann ----this one was a real travesty. Montero was the clear winner IMO

???? > Brandon Phillips ----- nobody can match the numbers across the board that Phillips put up at 2B

i think the A-Ram pick was also a good choice

i think Tulo over Reyes is justifiable given Reyes DL stint this year...otherwise i think i would prefer Reyes

Justin Upton was an okay pick to me...Hunter Pence merited consideration along with Lance Berkman. Still, after Braun and Kemp, there really wasnt a clear choice

These deserving/non-deserving picks were made to create controversy and conversation. I see only 1 clearly blown choice>>> NL Catcher

I don't see the NL Catcher as a travesty at all. Montero gets the edge for playing time, but it's less than a 30 PA difference, and McCann played in the tougher hitting park, but their overall offense was very similar (.270/.351/.466, 24 HR for McCann, .282/.351/.469, 18 HR for Montero) a BA edge for Montero, a HR edge for McCann, with OBP and SLG that are too close to show a meaningful difference. I wouldn't have had a problem with either of those two winning.

I'd have gone Miguel Cabrera certainly for AL 1B, and likely Berkman for the third NL OF, but there's none of the choices I'd say weren't deserving.
