And just like that, Morgan is back on the DL with a fractured finger. He is expected to miss about 2-4 weeks (although a finger takes more than 2 weeks to heal)

He was bunting and the ball ran in on him and got part of his finger. 95 mph sinker from Venters.

Atlanta - The bad news just keeps coming for the Brewers.

Outfielder Nyjer Morgan has a fractured left middle finger and is expected to be out 2-4 weeks. Morgan was struck on the finger while executing a sacrifice bunt in the eighth inning of th 2-1 loss to the Braves, th Brewers' sixth conscutive defeat.

Morgan had just returned from the DL after recovering from a thigh bruise and now this. He was completely disconsolate in the clubhouse after the game and couldn't talk with reporters.

This has been an injury-riddled mess of a season for the Brewers and there doesn't seem to be any end to it.

I have no idea what the Brewers will do to replace Morgan. They just outrighted Brandon Boggs to Class AAA Nashville when Morgan returned and I don't know if that can be revoked. Boggs had 72 hours to decide whether to accept the assignment or declare free agency.

"We'll see what we're made of," said reliever Kameron Loe, who surrenderd the game-winning homer to Martin Prado in the eighth. "We'll see what kind of character we have."

Another unfortunate injury for the Brewers.

This might not be their year, karma-wise.

Hopefully Weeks can manage to stay healthy this season. With Fielder out of the picture, it's even more crucial we have guys like him in the lineup that can produce every day. We can't afford to have Weeks go down with a late-season injury like last year.

Looks like he should be good to by Spring Training.

2B Rickie Weeks, who missed six weeks in the second half of 2011 because of a severely sprained left ankle and was hobbled throughout the postseason, said he is still not quite 100 percent but is getting close. "They kind of warned me that something like this would probably take some time," said Weeks, who expects to be full-go by the start of spring training.

Sad news coming out of Brewers' camp this afternoon; Corey Hart will need knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Reports have indicated he could miss 3-4 weeks.

In a perfect world, this isn't how I envisioned the start of Spring Training. Although I'm left with a sense of assurance knowing that we have Aoki to replace him for the first week or so of the season (if that).

Well 3-4 weeks isn't too bad. It could be a lot worse.

Brewers pitching prospect Cody Scarpetta will be shut down for three weeks while nursing a sore pitching elbow.

He'll resume a throwing program in late April. Scarpetta was one of the earlier cuts from Brewers camp, but he has some upside as a relief prospect and could be summoned from Double-A Huntsville at some point this season if he can get healthy.

Milwaukee starting pitcher [Chris Narveson] has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. Narveson could be facing season-ending surgery for a torn rotator cuff (which apparently isn't a word according to Firefox Spellchecker). Marco Estrada, who started seven games for the Brewers last season, has been selected as his replacement despite speculation that Top 100 Prospect Wily Peralta might get the call.

    Chris Narveson 2011 Numbers: 11-8, 4.45 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 128 Strikeouts.
Marco Estrada 2011 Numbers: 4-8, 4.04 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 88 Strikeouts (mostly worked out of the bullpen)

Mike McClendon will replace Narveson on the 25-man roster.

Mat Gamel will need knee surgery to repair a torn ligament. He will be out for a significant amount of time, but can still return before the season ends.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Brewers shortstop Alex Gonzalez will know more about the nature of his right knee injury following an MRI scan scheduled for Monday. Until then, he resisted the idea that his season is in peril.

Gonzalez was hurt sliding into second base in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Giants at AT&T Park and moved about the clubhouse on crutches. He will be placed on the 15-day disabled list before Sunday's series finale.

"We're putting him on the DL pretty fast, so it doesn't look very good," manager Ron Roenicke said.
We're barely two months into the season, and we've already lost four players to the disabled list (including three starters if you count Carlos Gomez). With Ryan Braun still nursing a sore achilles heal, our season seems to be going down the drain.

Taylor Green will likely take over at shortstop.
