New York Yankees Remaining schedule Yankees and Red Sox

Everything can happen, but it looks like that during the final month of the season will the battle for the AL East will be between the Yankees and the Red Sox.

Let's look at the schedule of both teams to see who has the easiest final month.

    Yankees:

    September
    5-7: vs Orioles
    8: @ Orioles
    9-11: @ Angels
    12-14: @ Mariners
    16-18: @ Blue Jays
    19: vs Twins
    20-22: vs Rays
    23-25: vs Red Sox
    26-28: @ Rays

    Red Sox:

    September
    5-8: @ Blue Jays
    9-11: @ Rays
    13-14: vs Blue Jays
    16-18: vs Rays
19-21: vs Orioles (including double header on September 19)
    23-25: @ Yankees
    26-28: @ Orioles

The Yankees will have the most home series (4; Boston 3). Besides that, the Yankees have to play the Mariners (on paper weaker opponents). The Yankees have to face O's four games while the Red Sox have to face the O's seven times.

So in general the Yankees have to face slightly more tougher opponents, but the Red Sox have more road series ahead. In general, I think that none of the both has a clear advantage over the other team.

    What are your thoughts?

When I take a closer look, I think the Yankees have a more difficult schedule.

The Red Sox' only tough opponent are the Rays; they have to face them in two series.

The Yankees on the other hand have to face the Rays in two series, but they also have to face the Angels (5th best record in the AL).
