A.J. Burnett is doing quite...poorly in his rehab assignment. Tonight he started for Triple-A Indianapolis and put up the following line: 4.0 IP, 7H, 5ER, 4BB, 0Ks.

Normally I wouldn't be too concerned about one rough outing, especially on a rehab assignment, but he got pummeled in Bradenton last week, when he gave up 8 runs on 5 hits in less than 2 innings. And that's Single-A baseball down there!

This could turn into quite a predicament if he can't get things turned around, especially with the fact that the Pirates already have a challenge in finding someone to take out of the rotation (all five have pitched well to this point). Taking out a starter who is pitching well and replacing him with a poorly performing A.J. Burnett might not be the best option.
