1911-Ty Cobb and Frank Schulte receive the first Chalmers Award, which predated the current MVP award.
In 1948, the Indians win their last World Series over the Braves.
In 1964, Ken Boyer becomes the second NLer to hit a Grand Slam in the World Series.
In 1965, Willie Davis matches Wagner's feat by stealing three bases in a World Series game.
In 1967, the Mets sign Gil Hodges as their manager.
In 1981, the Expos win their first division title.
In 2000, the Yankees get 8 hits in one inning of a postseason game.
in 2004, The Astros win their first postseason series.
In 2006, a day after his team had been eliminated from the playoffs, mid season pickup Corey Lidle of the Yankees crashes his plane into a Manhattan high rise, killing him and his instructor/passenger.
In 2009, The Twins play their last game at the Metrodome.
I remember Lidle's death. It was a sad day. He was young and had a decent future in the bigs.
