New York Yankees The Mariano Rivera Thread

Mo didn't pitch Wednesday due to soreness in his triceps.

Slowly the small nagging injuries seem to occur more often.

I know he has a year left on his contract after this season, but do you think that he may retire after the 2011 campaign?
Or do you think that he will pitch again in 2012 to get the all time saves record?

He keeps it up, he'll have the all time saves record this year!

He WILL pitch in 2012 and really, the way he is playing now, he could pitch in 2015!

His numbers are great this year and what player doesn't get nagging injuries....

He will most likely continue to 2015. There is nothing stopping him. He might not continue with the Yanks but he will be around.

We may see the invention of Mariano Rules. Day off for every inning he pitches.

He will pitch until 2012 at least, on his way to the HOF...

New York Yankees Mo - Countdown to a Saves Record

    ALL-TIME SAVES LEADERS

    Trevor Hoffman 601
    Mariano Rivera 592
    Lee Smith 478
    John Franco 424
    Billy Wagner 422
    Dennis Eckersley 390
    Jeff Reardon 367
    Troy Percival 358
    Randy Myers 347
    Rollie Fingers 341
    John Wetteland 330
    Roberto Hernandez 326
    Jose Mesa 321
    Todd Jones 319
    Rick Aguilera 318
    Francisco Cordero 316
    Robb Nen 314
    Tom Henke 311
    Rich Gossage 310
    Jeff Montgomery 304

With Derek Jeter marching ever upward past 3,000, it is time to turn our attention to another Yankee about to break a record...

Mariano Rivera is now marching towards history. He is 9 away from a tie with Trevor Hoffman and 10 away from owning the record outright.

I will countdown each save here on the way to 602!
