Houston Astros Astros and Rangers in the same division?

Does anyone agree that it's about time we had a natural geographic rival? I'm all for whatever realignment puts the two Texas teams together, simply because I think Texas is very capable of having a baseball rivalry like the Giants and Dodgers.

Living in New York for a few years really opened my eyes to how much fun it is as a fan to be able to drive and invade your opponent's stadium, and I think if the Astros are able to improve in a few years, we have some great potential for a lot of fun as fans if realignment happens.

Interleague and the Silver Boot are fun and all, but nothing beats fighting for a playoff spot.

I agree it would be more exciting for the fans down in Texas. However, there are other teams that could say the exact same thing...ie. St. Louis and Kansas City.

I like it. It would draw more people to the games once the rivalry really got going, and I've always liked the idea of more geographical divisions.

There ya go! What baffles me is how a team in Texas get's into the same division as teams from Chicago, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Cincinnati. The Astros are the oddball in this bunch.

The odder thing is how the Rangers are in a division with three Pacific Coast teams.

The more i think about it, the more i like the idea. I would love to have more excuses to go to Arlington to watch games. i love that ballpark. Plus, we would not have Pujols in the same division anymore. AND, it would further us away from Selig's fave team, the Brewers. That means no more getting screwed in the middle of a playoff chase because we get hit by a hurricane.

I don't think we'll see Pujols in the same division even if we stay in the NL Central.

But yeah, seeing how the east coast fans traveled to each other's stadiums during playoff pushes really made me see the benefit of having so many stadiums in driving distance. It'd be great for young fans to come up having that kind of rivalry, and I think it would be really help put the Astros and Rangers alongside Texas Football in terms of popularity.
