Boston Red Sox All-Time Greatest Red Sox Left Fielder

Need we even do this one: who is the all-time greatest Red Sox left fielder?

PLAYER G BA HITS RUNS HR RBI SB OPS+ (OPS) UZR/TZ (WAR)
    Ted Williams 2,292 .344 2,654 1,798 521 1,839 24 190 (1.116) -29 (139.8)
    Carl Yastrzemski 1,913 .285 3,419 1,816 452 1,844 168 129 (.841) +185 (108.7)

NOTE: Yaz's stats include 932 games played elsewhere in the field: at first base, in center or right field, and as a DH.

The Splendid Splinter, as we all know, lost at least 4 full seasons (in his prime, no less) to military service -- can you imagine?

Mike Greenwell (1269 games; 120 OPS+; 28.0 WAR) and Manny Ramirez (1083 games; 155 OPS+; 32.7 WAR) do not make the cut -- for fairly obvious reasons.
"I think about the cosmic snowball theory. A few million years from now the sun will burn out and lose its gravitational pull. The earth will turn into a giant snowball and be hurled through space. When that happens it won't matter if I get this guy out." Bill Lee

Defense closes the gap a bit, but Williams' offensive prowess was absurd. Williams takes this one.

Yaz was a great player, but he doesn't stand a chance to the Splendid Splinter. Just think of where Ted's numbers would be had he not missed time in the prime of his career to serve in WW2 and Korea. Greatest hitter of all time. (btw, definitely robbed of that 1941 MVP )

I wish I could play little league now. I'd be way better than before.

Yaz was the best I ever saw play the wall in left and would be the top Left Fielder for almost any other team (if he had played for them, of course). He also is my favorite Red Sox player of all time. (Not easy to say for a Yankee fan.)
But the guy Yaz replaced in Left has to get my vote here.

Both of these players were amazing hitters, but Williams was one of the best. Yaz could play the ball off the Monster like no other player.
