Chase Utley underwent an MRI exam on Saturday. He has patella tendinitis and isn't expected to play a spring game until the discomfort is no longer there.

Utley got a shot of cortisone today. Steroids, Steroids, Steroids! oh yeah, that one don't count.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP)—Philadelphia rookie Domonic Brown(notes) broke his right hand during a 4-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, an injury that may require surgery and could open a spot in the Phillies’ outfield.

Philadelphia general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said an X-ray showed the fracture. Brown will be re-evaluated Monday or Tuesday.

“If he has to have some type of surgery on it, it would be anywhere from three to six weeks of recovery time,” Amaro said.
This might even hinder the powerful Phillies team.

Brown, while he may not be their saving grace for Werth, was still going to be a very nice replacement. It isn't killer, but it definitely hurts a little if your a Phillies fan to see a young talent like this go down already.

Philadelphia Phillies closer Brad Lidge (FSY) has a sore arm that will keep him off the mound for a few days.

Lidge was supposed to pitch Monday against the Houston Astros, but did not make the trip to Kissimmee because of tendinitis in his right biceps.

    In other news...

Third baseman Placido Polanco has re-injured his surgically repaired left elbow in the first inning against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Polanco hyperextended his elbow on a swing in his only plate appearance Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies Oswalt Hit in Head!

Though he appears to be ok,the Phillies got a scare today when Roy Oswalt took a line drive from the bat of Manny Ramirez right behind the ear. He did not lose consciousness but I would be shocked if he didn't have a concussion.

Methinks there will be new calls for players to accept/adopt the new batting helmet that Morneau and others are endorsing.

Of course there is also this:

It hasn't been a very good spring for the Phillies when it comes to health matters. Second baseman Chase Utley (knee) and rookie outfielder Domonic Brown (broken hand) have missed every game. Third baseman Placido Polanco (elb0w) and closer Brad Lidge (biceps tendinitis) have also been sidelined.

    Dang, one of my favorites.

The Phillies reported that Oswalt suffered a bruise to his neck and was not dizzy when he left the game against the Tampa Bay Rays under his own power at Port Charlotte, Fla.
^ This sounds good at this point in time. Thanks for the posting Rick, so happy with the site I haven't been to yahoo sports to catch up on my reading today.

Definitely a huge scare for the Phils, sure they have three other aces, but they are putting a lot on that pitching staff.
