The home of the Oakland Athletics and the Oakland Raiders get a new stadium name. It's quite ridiculous as well. The stadium goes from Oakland Coliseum to the Overstock.com Coliseum.
This agreement with the online retailer is for 6 years and pays $7.2MM. The name will be changed again here soon with Overstock.com rebranding. They hold rights to the name and can change it whenever. New name is expected to be O.co Coliseum after they finalize the rebranding of the company. As of now, it's the Overstock.com Coliseum.

Name fits well to the monstrocity that stadium is. I think it is a good example of a multi sport failure.

O.co Coliseum??? Wow, that's about as bad as it gets. The A's seriously need to get their own stadium though.

Both names are pretty bad but O.co is just awful. At least Overstock.com would have some branding potential.
From a business side, $7.2 million for 6 years seems like a steal when plastering your name on a stadium that houses two professional sports, regardless of the history, talent, or reputation of the teams.

Doesn't this just make you proud to be a Raiders fan, Corey? LOL.The whole naming deal may be a gross miscalculation by Overstock.com, as it presupposes that Raiders fans know how to use the Internet and/or have a credit card. (kidding. The biggest obstacle will be getting past the prison's web filters.)
