I don't know if it is far reaching. My Mom is not a baseball fan but she remembers fondly how baseball was a part of her families life and falling asleep listening to games on the radio with her family. She still get's excited about the old Baltimore Orioles of the 50's, 60's!

I almost bought this over the winter, but didn't. However, it is now available on Netflix for streaming. I plan on diving into it once this week is finished.

It is well worth the time invested in my opinion. Haven't seen the the new part that he added, but have seen the rest of it when they were airing it on mlb network. As a history guy, I loved the first few innings the most because it did a real nice job of going through the early years of baseball and the major leagues. The whole thing is good, but the focus is clearly on the New York teams throughout.

Now that I don't have school work to worry about at night, I think I'm going to start watching it in the next couple of days.

I've worn out 2 copies of the series. The 10th inning was one of the most honest discussions I've seen recently.
On a personal note, we got to know Buck O'Neil a little bit because of the series. He was one of the real gentlemen in the history of the game.

Loved it. I was new to the sport when I watched it and it was a great 'introduction'. Very informative and well produced. I've been meaning to try and track down a cheap region free DVD player and order myself a copy of the series.

I have been wanting to watch this. I am hoping to get the chance soon whether I purchase it or acquire by another means.

The entire series is on Netflix. Would be a lot cheaper than purchasing it.
