Tampa Bay Rays Manny Ramirez retires from Major League Baseball

Manny Ramirez was notified by MLB that there was an "issue" under its drug program and instead of continuing with the process of resolving the "issue" Manny announced his retirement.

    Wow, I am shocked!

I am not. This may be the best thing happening to the Rays.

I wish I could play little league now. I'd be way better than before.

    Huh, never saw this coming.

I would imagine a call up of Desmond Jennings would be next, moving Damon to DH.

Wow, couldn't believe it when I saw this thread, haha. Very shocking and unexpected, but this is probably a good thing for the Rays.

I wonder how he'll feel when they tell him he won't be paid for the rest of the year.

Ramirez tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in spring training, according to Michael Schmidt of the New York Times, citing two people briefed on the matter. Ramirez was suspended for 50 games in 2009 for violating the drug policy and a second infraction would have resulted in a 100-game ban.
I don't feel sorry for him!
