I think Rex has a new book coming out in the next couple of months. Looking forward to picking that one up, though I do think his time would be better spent bringing home a Championship first!

He's doing a great job over there, 2 years, 2 AFC Champ game appearances. What they really need is home playoff games and then I think they'll go all the way. But I didn't know he was coming out with another book, I'll have to keep my eye out for it.

I'm reading this pre-quel to the Maltese Falcon. Sacreligious, right? Well, the author worked as a private detective in San Franscisco for 12 years and received express approval from Dashiell Hammett's family before writing the book. Those craving the classic style, twisting storylines and staccato dialogue of a noir mystery book should check this out.

Sadly, the author died in January.... 50 years TO THE DAY that Hammett died. Crazy.

Hmmm... and did he really die of natural causes? The plot thickens.

I can whole-heartedly recommend Keith Richards' memoir, LIFE. Richards basically told his story to co-writer James Fox, who miraculously captures Keef in a natural voice that's funny as hell, and gives the reader the feeling that he's in the room with Richards, listening to him tell his story. And what a story it is, from childhood to the early 60s, to life with the Stones, Anita Pallenberg, Mick Jagger, heroin addiction, and some amazing technical passages on the craft of rock guitar playing, particularly the open-tune playing he revolutionized from the Stones' great period covering Beggars Banquet thru Exile on Main St.

Just finished Paul Harding's Tinkers, the winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize. Good book.
