Braves? Didn't you see my post about the Rockies? 81mil for 2 years and 21 wins. And no, he shouldn't give any of the money back. Players are just a stock that an owner buys and they make a plenty on players during their first 6 years in MLB especially the first two years that are just like the old days of the reserve clause.

It's not like Hampton didn't WANT to pitch. Injuries happen - that's why owners take out big insurance policies. The owners are only risking $$ - the players are risking their careers.

Also to go along with what Mex86 said, all the multi millionaire owners do is sign players to the dotted line. Why should they get any money back? Any stock has a risk as the owners know and the owners sure don't reimburse a rookie who brings in millions while making league minimum.

    Hear, hear.

Nor do the owners ever really absorb any losses -- they have countless ways of writing them off.

Say one thing about Hampton, he was a all around player, good speed, bat and glove. He did win a silver slugger here in Colorado but that isn't exactly what the Rockies needed.

I was concerned with Hamptons size from the get go when the Rockies signed him.

I feel a bit of pity for him. Hope he has a great retirement though!

The Arizona Diamondbacks hired Jerry Krause of Chicago Bulls fame as a special assistant to the senior vice president, scouting & player development. Despite being known for his involvement with the Bulls, Krause spent 21 of his 37 years scouting baseball players, most recently for the Chicago White Sox in 2010.

Krause will evaluate players on all levels, including Major and minor league players, amateur players for the First-Year Player Draft and international players throughout the world.

Arizona selected the contract of 30-year-old infielder Josh Wilson from triple-A Reno. He was batting .351 with a home run and 12 RBIs in 16 games with the Aces. It's his second stint with Arizona. He played 11 games with the Diamondbacks in 2009.
