I'm Thir13enGhosts, best to call me just '13' as it's a tricky thing to type accurately (try it!)

I'm a huge Mets fan for over 20 years, I live upstate about 50 miles north of New York City in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

I don't see any other Mets fans around here yet, but that's OK, it looks like a nice set up you guys have here. I once posted on a couple of other forums, but it never came to much, thought I'd try this place on for size.

What's your take on Terry Collins?

I really don't know much about him yet, I don't think any of us do. He apparently is likely to be a lot tougher and stricter with the players than either Willie or Jerry were, so that could go either of two ways if the players have had it too easy in the past, they could be in for a shock. I am more impressed with the all-new front office to be honest, Alderson, DePodesta and Ricciardi is one hell of a front office. I don't see the Mets competing again until 2012-2013 at the earliest, we have too many dumb expensive contracts which didn't pay off to shed before Alderson has the freedom to go out and rebuild the roster, which is the only option for a few years as our farm system is pretty bad and will need several years of work to get it back to the way it was. I'd be happy if we won 85 games, which may only be enough for 4rd place in the division.

We should've signed Brandon Webb instead. $2m guaranteed, with incentives up to $5m. But instead we get Capuano for $500k less. We seriously couldn't pay Webb that extra $500k? But now we have him, I think the 1.5 mil guarantee is a little high (but what can you do it's kind of the going rate) but he comes quite highly rated, though I don't recall seeing him pitch that often. I mean Escobar got the same last year, and Mark Prior hasn't pitched in like 4 years and he still got 750k.
