Bottom 1st: Baltimore
- R. Flaherty homered to deep right
- J.J. Hardy homered to deep left
- N. Markakis homered to deep right
Just the 2nd time in MLB a team has done this in their first at bat of the game.
In the 2nd game Hamilton when yard again with Andrus aboard once more. This has happened in Hamiltons last 5 HR's.

Very cool. I hadn't realized that was such a rarity. I mean, I figured it was rare, but only once until now?
So who was the first team and players to lead off their first inning with 3 straight homers?
Baltimore's been involved in a lot of historic moments to start the season.
Chris Davis earning a win, Hamilton's HR extravaganza and now this? It FEELS like something special. idk.

If Suzy and John mentioned it, I missed it. Going out on the limb as it is with those two.

Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez hit back-to-back homers to open up the 2011 campaign, and I remember Uecker explaining how rare that feat was. Now this...this is even more impressive. I've always rooted for any team that prevents the Yankees or Red Sox from winning the AL East, so I'm very pleased to see Baltimore is staying hot. I wouldn't mind seeing Tampa Bay either, but the O's haven't been successful since the days of Jim Palmer -- it's time to turn over a new leaf.

BALTIMORE -- For the first time in American League history, a team opened with back-to-back-to-back home runs. Orioles Ryan Flaherty, J.J. Hardy and Nick Markakis staked Baltimore to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of a 6-5 win in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against Texas.
Atlanta's Rafael Furcal, Mark DeRosa and Gary Sheffield did it May 28, 2003, and San Diego's Marvell Wynne, Tony Gwynn and John Kruk accomplished the feat on April 13, 1987.
There it is. Had to go to MLB.com since Yahoo didn't detail the feat. Congrats O's, first time ever in the AL!

The Brewers also accomplished this in 2007 with Rickie Weeks, J.J. Hardy, and Ryan Braun. Hardy is the only player in the history of the game to be part of two of these rarities. I thought that was really interesting!

Oopsy Daisy, it was right in the link I posted. I mis-read it.:)
Thursday marked the first time any team opened a game with three consecutive home runs since the Brewers did it on Sept. 9, 2007. That day, Hardy was once again batting second, sandwiched between Rickie Weeks and Ryan Braun. It was also just the fourth time overall a team has started a game with three jacks.
