The High Desert Mavericks (High A affiliate of Seattle) hired PSC (Professional Sports Catering) to run the food and beverage operation.
PSC was already hired by the group that recently bought the Mavs to do the food and beverage operation with the Quad City River Bandits.
PSC is run by Cherry Myers and Tom Dickenson, owners of the Montgomery Biscuits and Lansing Lugnuts.
Besides the Mavericks PSC caters for the Lansing Lugnuts, the Montgomery Biscuits, the Great Lakes Loons, the South Bend Silver Hawks, the Quad City River Bandits, the Tulsa Drillers, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and the Peoria Chiefs (deal was announced only on Dec. 16).

According to this site http://www.stadiumjourney.com/stadiums/montgomery-riverwalk-stadium-s269/, the food at Riverwalk Stadium, where PSC also does the catering, is very good. But the same site isn't that happy with what they serve at the South Bend Silver Hawks. On the contrary, they are quite pleased with what the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes serve.

Though they have an option to leave Adelanto after the 2011 season, the High Desert Mavericks new owners have announced that they will stay in Adelanto through the 2012 season. According to a press release they are negotiating with the city of Adelanto to upgrade Stater Bros Stadium.
I have my doubts about this. Recently the city of Adelanto kinda made clear that they rather get rid of the team because they can not maintain the stadium.
I still rather see the cities of Victorville and Apple Valley cooperate to build a stadium and run it together. A new stadium in that area will help the club draw more fans to their games.

Post anything regarding the Mariners MiLB players or Mariners' MiLB affiliations here.

In this very young season, two teams of the M's organisation are doing very well.
High A affiliation, the High Desert Mavericks have won their first three games vs the Lancaster Jethawks: 6-2; 9-5; 16-2
AA affiliate, the Jackson Generals won three games vs : 2-1; 3-2; 7-5.

Ill step up my activity in here very soon. I apologize for being absent lately. Lots of stuff going on.
I did get to go to the Rainiers opening day game this year. Not much to report on the Rainiers side but Garrett Richards is a very, very good pitcher. Nasty stuff and hit 95-96 very often throughout his start. Oh and Mike Trout. The kid can hit. 3 singles and caught stealing but he had a presence and a very well balanced swing that I swear should produce 20+ homeruns when he gets to the big leagues.

James Paxton absolutely dominated in his first start for Double-A Jackson with 5.2 innings pitched while allowing no hits, striking out 10 and walking none. Seems he was pulled after hitting an undisclosed pitch count. The Jackson rotation also included Taijuan Walker and Danny Hultzen along with infielders Nick Franklin and Francisco Martinez. This team should be a hot spot for prospect watching this year as I think this might be the last stop for all players. Really don't see any of them spending much time in Tacoma.

1. Double-A Jackson Generals (Southern League/Mariners)
No other team in the minors can boast four Top 100 Prospects. With RHP Taijuan Walker (No. 20) and LHPs Danny Hultzen (No. 21) and James Paxton (No. 52)—along with SS Nick Franklin (No. 77)—Jackson fans are sure to get an elite prospect on the mound three out of every five days.

The best prospects most baseball fans have never heard of. That should change soon though.

The M's high A farm team, the High Desert Mavericks has won their fourth game in a row. After already clinching the five game series on Saturday, they beat the Lancaster Jethawks 8-6 on Sunday. The Mavs are the only unbeaten team in the California League.
The Jackson Generals fell to the Birmingham Barons (White Sox) 9-2 on Sunday. The Generals stay on top of the North Division, but they share this spot with the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs).

The Jackson Generals beat the Birmingham Barons today 3-2. SP Taijun Walker lead the way for the Generals by pitching five innings in which he allowed two runs on four hits, walked just one and fanned eight (!).
I have a feeling that when the Mariners aren't too eager to move up their talents too soon, this team could be a serious contender for the Southern League championship.

The High Desert Mavericks are on a roll so far. They beat the back-to-back champions of the California League of te previous two seasons, the San Jose Giants with 6-5. After trailing 3-1 they bounced back in the middle of the game and took a 6-3 lead. The Giants crawled back with a run in the seventh and the eigth inning, but after that, there was no more gas in their tank.

The Mavericks are still in the lead of the California League South division. But the share first place with Angels affiliate Inland Empire Sixtysixers.
So far, James Gillheeney is the only Mavs pitcher that won his two starts. His ERA is a microscopic 0.87.
Best BA is owned by OF Stefen Romero (.429)
The Jackson Generals are leading the Southern League North Division with a game over the Tennessee Smokies.
Of their starting pitchers, Andrew Carraway won his two starts. He has an ERA of 0.69. Prospect Danny Hultzen settled down after his first rocky start with a superb outing in 5 2/3 innings. In Friday's game Hultzen fanned nine and allowed one run.

Dutch outfielder Kalian Sams was on the DL the last few weeks, but now he made his debut with the Jackson Generals.
The Hague native entered the game of his Jackson Generals in the Southern League as pinch hitter. His flyball was caught by the second baseman. It’s his sixth professional season in the Seattle Mariners organization.

As much as I am pulling for Mr Sams I think the only way he puts himself back on the teams radar is if he has a HUGE season and even then he is getting a bit old for prospect status.

So far he has anything but a huge season. He doesn't get much playing time and when he does play he hardly hits.

The lower minor league teams of the Mariners keep doing well.
The High Desert Mavericks (A advanced, California League) are leading their division by half a game over the Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) with a 17-14 record.
The Jackson Generals (AA, Southern League) are leading their division by two games over the Huntsville Stars (Brewers) with a 19-11 record.
The Tacoma Rainiers are dead last in their divsion with a 11-18 record, trailing the Salt Lake Bees (Angels) by 3.5 games.
The Clinton Lumberkings of the Midwest League are last but one, trailing division leader Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers) by 6.5 games.

State of the Mariners' minor league teams:
The AAA Tacoma Rainiers (Pacific Coast League)are still in last place, trailing first place Colorado Springs by 6.0 games with a 16-12 record.
AA Jackson Generals (Southern League) are still leading the Northern Division by 1.5 games over Huntsville. The Generals won the last two games 4-2 and 13-5 over Mobile, who are leading the South Division.
The High Desert Mavericks (A Advanced, California League), beat Rancho Cucamonga last night with 6-5. The Mavs are tied for first place in the Southern Division with the Lancaster JetHawks (22-20) with a one game lead over runner up Lake Elsinore.
The Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League are now dead last, trailing first place Beloit by 11.5 games with a 14-27 record.

State of the Mariners' minor league teams:
The Tacoma Rainiers of the AAA Pacific Coast League are still in last place, but they have been on a roll last week. They improved to 22-27 and are out of first place by only 3.5 games. They have won seven of their last ten with a four game winning streak.
The Jackson Generals are in a kind of free fall after losing five out of their ten last games.
They were beaten up by the Montgomery Biscuits last night 16-3. The Generals are stil in first place but the best record of the Southern League is no longer in their hands.
The California League's High Desert Mavericks have taken the lead of their division again. After winning six of their last ten games they are leading their division by two games over the Lancaster JetHawks with a 27-22 record.
The Clinton LumberKings are still dead last and losing ground. In the Western Division of the Midwest League, they are 13.0 games out of first place with a three game losing streak.

State of the Mariners' minor league teams
The Tacoma Rainiers are having a bad season. All season they have been in the cellar. In the meantime they are eliminated and dead last in the Pacific Northern Division of the PCL with a 57-77 record.
The Jackson Generals of the AA Southern League have clinched the first half North Division title and are still in the race to win the second half title as well. They are strailing first place Chattanooga by two games with only nine games left to play
In the California League (high A), the High Desert Mavericks have accomplished what the Jackson Generals are trying to do in the Southern League. Since they finished in a tie with Rancho Cucamonga in the first half, the very first game between the two teams in the second half of the season had to decide who would be the first half champ. With the first half title already in their pocket, the Mavs kept on surging and clinched the second half as well with a twelve game lead over Inland Empire and Lancaster.
The Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League (A) are in the drivers' seat of the Western Division. Leading second place Burlington by five games, the LumberKings are 8-2 in their last ten games.
The Low A Everett AquaSox (Northwest League) clinched the first half of the season in the West Division but are in last place since. Even though their chances to win the second half as well are not hopeless, it will be hard. The Sox are trailing first place Vancouver (last year's Northwest League champions) by 4.5 games and are only three games away from elimination.

The home of the Jackson Generals (Class AA; Southern League) will go without a name for now, as the team and Kellogg's negotiates a naming-rights extension for Pringles Park.
Kellogg's now owns Pringles after buying the brand from Proctor & Gamble, which has had naming rights to the ballpark for the past 15 years. It sounds like both sides want to see an extension of the deal -- Pringles is a major employer in the city, as the Pringles plant is only one of two in the world -- but haven't been able to reach a financial agreement, with the city and the Southern League monitoring the talks.
So, without a deal in hand, Pringles signage at the ballpark is coming down.

With a slight attendance dip last season and a disappointing number of walk-up sales, the Tacoma Rainiers (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) are looking at ballpark improvements to attract the impulsive.
The team just ended a second season at a renovated Cheney Stadium: after setting an attendance record in 2011, the numbers were down last season. In response, team president Aaron Altman says the Rainiers are looking at additional ballpark features designed to attract walk-up sales, which are traditionally weak. From the News Tribune:
“We have the lowest walk-up in the league,” Artman said. “In terms of our market size, we should get another 50,000 a year in walk-up.”
One explanation might be the location of the stadium, almost suburban and dependent on fans driving to the ballpark. In the highest-attendance cities, the ballparks are downtown or among other attractions....
He’d like to attract more 20-somethings with an expanded beer garden, similar to The Pen at Safeco Field. And he promised better food and better service next year with emphasis on local products.

One full week after the MiLB season started the Mariners' farm teams are not doing very well.
AAA Tacoma Rainiers
The Rainiers are doing quite well so far. They share first place with the Salt Lake Bees (Anaheim) with a 5-2 record. They won their last three games.
AA Jackson Generals
The Generals on their turn didn't have a great start. With a 2-4 record they are three games out of first place.
A advanced High Desert Mavericks
The Mavericks did have a bad start as well. Even though they won their last game, they are off a 2-5 start, good for fourth place in the South Division with 3.5 games behind first place Lancaster Jethawks.
A Clinton Lumberkings
With a 3-4 record the Lumberkings are having a sub-par start. They are trailing the first place Quad City River Bandits by 2.5 games.
