with the addition of Kubel, we now have 4 outfielders that would start on any other team. People jumped to the conclusion we might trade away Parra, but it just doesn't make that much sense. Some were mentioning trading away Chris Young, but again, I don't see that.

It's a good safety net in case of injury obviously. Another thing is Interleague play, easily could play Parra in the outfield and have Kubel DH. And we can also give some more rest to Upton and Young this way. I know they both want to be out there every game, but it doesn't hurt to give some rest.

All in all, I like the addition, and it should improve our lineup. Our offense will be something to talk about this year. Goldy playing a full year, and Montero looking for a raise in the off season.

It is a good situation to be in, but I don't agree with the signing. We paid 15 mil on a position we didn't really need help at. He's a sub par defender on a pitching heavy team, and his bat isn't that much better than Para's(not enough to make up the defensive short falling at least). It is nice to have the depth, but in my opinion the cost was too high. Hopefully Kubel will prove me wrong.:)

I do really like our lineup this year, especially with Goldy. We have a few threats and a solid lineup to back them up. I've heard a few experts say our offense is going to be better than our pitching, not so sure myself but it is pretty good.

Defensively, we didn't need help at all. Parra with a gold glove last year says it all. Dude has a cannon and the opposing teams know not to run a chance of being gunned out. Offensively, I think it was more or less a way to help provide Upton with some protection. Parra was normally hitting towards the bottom of the lineup, and he's not a guy you really have to worry about hitting the home run ball. He's a good hitter though, he hit around the .300 mark. That's the only reason I can see why we got Kubel, but I agree with your view on the price for him.

Kubel will mostly be replacing Parra though... I'll be fine with things if Parra can get the start when Collmenter and Saunders pitch, both being flyball pitchers.

I think Kubel is going to have huge year in ARI. Going from MIN pitchers park to ARI where the ball carry will be huge

I hope your right, in this case Kubel would be an good signing. Most projections have him doing marginally better, but not enough to classify it as a huge year. Of course they can easily be wrong:veryhappy:

Now they're talking about getting Vladimir Guerrero.

Kubel has really been heating up with the bat. He's batting well over .300 right now. He's picked up some slack since we've lost CY for sure.

It will be interesting when Young comes back, as Parra is on a hit streak if I'm not mistaken of 8 games. I'm just glad the bats are finally turning around. Pitching has only been getting better too. Miley has done great, and Saunders had a fabulous April.

Parra has a hit streak of 6 as of today. He went 0-1 on April 25. However, he still has done a great job of providing some "relief" for a short-handed Dback team. I'm surprised he has 8 stolen bases already.

Yeah, Kubel and Parra have definitely been picking up slack since Young has been out. So far this year the Kubel signing has looked really good, but I'm interested to see what Gibson does with the outfield when Chris comes back.
