The Toronto Blue Jays are negotiating with a local group to bring back affiliated minor league baseball to the Canadian capital. Likely it will be a NY-Penn affiliation, but it can't be ruled out that AAA may return, since the Blue Jays aren't satisfied with their AAA affiliation in Las Vegas.

To be continued?

Having a minor-league affiliate in Canada for a Canadian team sounds smart. I saw the Las Vegas 51's too. Nice stadium.

Yeah i agree it makes sense to have a Canadian minor-league affiliate here.

They already have. The Vancouver Canadians. In fact the Blue Jays have two options in moving a low A team to Ottawa: the Canadiens or the Lansing Lugnuts. Since the latter is pretty successful in drawing audience, I don't think that this team will be moved.

Oh...didn't know that. the Knoxville/Tennesee Smokies were the AA Blue Jays affiliate for a couple decades...I got to see them occasionally.

The Smokies are a Cubs affiliate now. The Blue Jays' AA affliliation is/are the New Hampshire FisherCats.

Yeah I saw the AA team was the Smokies. Went back for a visit and stopped by the stadium.

The only problem is that the 51s aren't drawing too much fans to Cashman Field.
I can understand the Blue Jays complaint btw. Vegas is simply too far away from Toronto. Las Vegas as a AAA affiliation will work for a West Coast team but not for an East Coast team.
