Here is my proposal for MLB International Series:
European Series (Preferably a 3 or 4 game series)
2014~ 2013 NL East 4th Place Team vs. 2013 NL East 5th Place Team
2015~ 2014 AL East 4th Place Team vs. 2014 AL East 5th Place Team
Japan Series (Preferably expand this to a 3 or 4 game series?)
2014~ 2013 NL West 4th Place Team vs. 2013 NL West 5th Place Team
2015~ 2014 AL West 4th Place Team vs. 2014 AL West 5th Place Team
Your Thoughts?

Sorry, but I don't get your point. Can you please explain what you mean?
Thanks.

What I mean, is that this is who I feel should play in those games. I should have clarified myself better. That was completely my fault, and I apologize for it.

No need to apologize.
Do I get it right when you say the European winner should play the winner of the winner of the series between the nr. 4 and 5 (AL or NL)? Ditto for the Japan series?

I never really thought of it that way, but I guess you could could say that would be the case.

Wait, do you mean like The European Champ playing the winner of the MLB Holland Series?

No. In your example you are talking about AL #4 playing the AL#5. I thought that the winner of that game/series would face the winner of the European series.

Allow me to elaborate on this a little
The team that came in 4th place in the NL East Division @ the end of the 2013 season would face the team that came in 5th place in the NL East Division @ the end of the 2013 season in a series in Europe (preferably the Netherlands) sometime during the 2014 season (probably mid-late April)
The team that came in 4th place in the AL East Division @ the end of the 2014 season would face the team that came in 5th place in the AL East Division @ the end of the 2014 season in a series in Europe (preferably the Netherlands) sometime during the 2015 season (probably mid-late April)
The team that came in 4th place in the NL West Division @ the end of the 2013 season would face the team that came in 5th place in the NL West Division @ the end of the 2013 season in an Opening week series in Japan (Preferably expand this to a 3 or 4 game series?)
The team that came in 4th place in the AL West Division @ the end of the 2014 season would face the team that came in 5th place in the AL West Division @ the end of the 2014 season in an Opening week series in Japan (Preferably expand this to a 3 or 4 game series?)
Both the Japan and European series would be totally seperate series. Like you said in an earlier thread, the European series probably won't be an Opening series (mainly due to the weather there).

I like the idea, but I don't think this will ever become reality. I don't think that MLB teams won't be interested in playing a series vs European or Japanese clubs.
But nevertheless, I like the idea. European and especially Japanese clubs will have a bigger chance to beat 4th or 5th place MLB teams. The Mariners and A's are the current proof of that.

The game against the Japanese/European clubs will only be a one game series.

I am not a fan of this playing in Japan or in Europe. I am not even sure what the point is. Yes, MLB wants to expand its influence in Japan and other places, but Europe!
I think starting the season in Japan like they just did and then continue playing spring games is ridiculous. MLB is our sport; we play a brand of the game; Japan plays a brand; and I am sure other places play their brand. I want our game here. If MLB wants to expand to Japan, Europe, Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc., so be it, but these franchise will have to play our brand of ball.

IMHO, if MLB really wants to expand the game and have a series internationally, then fine. Just do @ least a 3 or 4 game series. This business with having a 2 game series (in Japan), coming back to resume Spring Training, then going back to the regular season with 2 games (against the same team you faced in Japan) is kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Because of MLB's poor scheduling, both the Mariners and Athletics had today off. How much sense does that make?????????

Not much sense at all Cathy. This having to schedule so far ahead because it is such a long flight is a pain in the butt. Our sport should open in our country. If Selig wants to brown nose other countries, he should do so during the season, somehow, someway.

But that will be veryhard because of different time zones and jetlags. When teams that have played in Europe during the regular season, return to the US, will have a big disadvantage over the teams they playing in the first days after the trip. When I go to the US, my biological clock is still used to the Europe situation. During the first days I feel lame.

True but it is sort of lame having opening day in another country, then coming back to play ST games. This should/could, also screw with the human clock.

You better can feel lame at an ST game than during a regular season game.

Yeah, but the teams going to Japan isn't getting the full benefit of ST before playing a regular season game. Now if they started opening in the Netherlands, I'd stick all this behind my ear.:)
Really, all over sea games should be exhibition games or close counties like Mexico as long as they don't get food poisoning like the Padres got one year.

I would like to propose to play a complete MLB season in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. :veryhappy:
