The current Japanese champions, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, have shown interest in Brad Penny. No wonder since they have lost three starting pitchers: Toshiya Sugiuchi, D.J. Houlton and Tsuyoshi Wada, who combined to win 43 games, almost half of the team's 88 wins out of 144 regular-season games.

Sugiuchi and Houlton moved to the Yomiuri Giants and Wada has joined the Baltimore Orioles, but Settsu has vowed to step up for the team.

I think it is worth to give it a try. Cecil Fielder did well there and could sign a good contract with the Tigers afterwards.

If no one else will sign him and he wants to play than by all means Japan would be a great option for him.
