Catcher of the Dutch national team, Sidney de Jong, has announced to end his international career. Reasons are that he wants to spend more time with his family and he wants to focus on his future.
De Jong played his 200th internatonal game at the World Cup in Panama. For eleven years he was the main catcher of the Dutch team. De Jong debuted for the Dutch squad in 1998 vs a minor league squad of the Colorado Rockies during a training trip in the US. De Jong played in two World Baseball Classics, two Olympiads, five World Cups, five European championships and three Intercontinental Cups. His record contains one World title and four European titles.
