He was born out of controversy.

A lone nerd, fighting back against the machine.

Saberboy, hero of stat lovers everywhere.

The true backstory:

Randy Miller (@randyjmiller) is a writer for the South Jersey Courier-Post. He has covered the Philadelphia Phillies for the past 16 seasons and was one of nine writers who returned a blank Hall ballot this year.

Bill Parker (@Bill_TPA) is a blogger for The Platoon Advantage, which sparked some online controversy in December with the satirical article equating "suspected" PED users among baseball players with "suspected" plagiarists among baseball writers.

A back and forth developed when Miller was taken to task for turning in a blank ballot. The back-and-forth between Miller, Parker, ESPN's Keith Law and others then devolved into the difference between batting average and on-base percentage and led to this post from Miller to Parker:

Ah, I think after being a baseball beat writer for 16 years that I know what OBP is, Saberboy

And so, at 7:32 p.m. ET ... Saberboy was born.

Randy Miller: Why my Baseball Hall of Fame ballot remained blank

This guy reminds me of someone who roots against your team for the sole purpose of ticking you off and to gain attention. Also a great peak is more impressive to him then a great career. Schilling vs Biggio, but he bounces around on this with a vote for Concepcion.

IMO, he very well could point the same finger at Thome(his hero stance) that he has pointed at Bagwell.
