NCAA Baseball needs to improve on advertising its sport. Its seems like, college baseball does the worst job advertising itself, than any of the other sports. I much rather watch College Baseball on T.V. than Football, or Basketball. But I never see on T.V., and the ones I do see, it doesn't have the glamour College Football or Basketball has, and I think for that it needs to improve, alot.

I lived in East Tenn near the University of Tenn for years. Even there it was all UT Football and Basketball (Womens) getting the coverage. Even the men`s team, which truly sucked for a long time, got more coverage than baseball. We had Todd Helton playing for the baseball team and he got nary a mention....

Same here but today not many share our opinion of a non-gladiator sport. I am glad that many college programs is rated AA+ by the pro scouts.

Yeah I don't understand why people neglect college baseball, and I don't understand why College Baseball Programs don't do more to advertise their sport. I think its all about school identity and pride, our College during our Fall Ball time, we got like maybe 4 or 5 people who came to our scrimmages, but our basketball team gets loads of people every scrimmage and every game. Why? Because the gym is decorated Blue and Yellow, our field doesn't even have a logo on it, well besides the dugout, but who sees the dugout? The Basektaball program actually asks people to come and support the team, they make flyers, they write public entries with pictures in it, in our weekly newspapers, poster boards all around the college with the basketball players pictures, their names and who they are, and stats. And not just in the College Campus, but out in the community too, you need to advertise your program. Get people to come, have food, drinks. Our baseball program needs to make the effort basketball makes. We don't even have a schedule up for people to see when we have games. Basketball has it all around the school.

It's a matter of tradition. College Basketball and College Football teams have acquired massive popularity through years of being nationally recognized by the media. I'm sure college baseball teams do the best they can to market the sport, but it's never going to surpass football or basketball at the college level.

College Baseball also takes place during the summer when most students have returned home. Without the students, the atmosphere isn't the same.

The only thing they adverstise is the College World Series. I love it. But if that is all the NCAA has to offer it is really pathetic.

They don't advertise as much because there is a much smaller market for college baseball than almost any other sport. There are people that refuse to watch MLB baseball because it's "too boring" or whatever it is, so it wouldn't make sense to spend millions trying to sway those fans to come watch games with less talent and less players they know and care about. It sucks but it's just the way it is.

Maybe College baseball will get a little better in the next few years....

The NCAA and Major League Baseball are in active discussions to develop a broad partnership that could result in a boom to the game at the collegiate level, according to a report obtained by CBSSports.com.

The partnership is aimed at expanding the importance of college baseball and is expected to result a significant investment by MLB that could include funding scholarships across the sport. The NCAA Board of Directors was briefed on the matter last week at their annual meeting.

"It's very early," a source said. "But we're hopeful something meaningful will come out of the talks."

It will never get the attention college football and basketball has. It's just too far gone by now, there is no way it is going to recover and get to the levels of those two. It's just too much.

I believe one of the biggest reasons baseball and hockey have a hard time keeping up with basketball and football at the college level is the fact that the MLB and NHL each have minor league systems. Sure the NBA has the D-league, but a lot of the college players go straight to the NBA.

And another reason is because, while we may not all feel the same, college students get more hyped up for a football or basketball game than a baseball game, which means less of an atmosphere at baseball games.
