Here is a new series of thread's I'm starting. This will allow you to vote for who in your opinion feel is the greatest player at his position for a particular decade. The criteria I will be using is 1,000 games played for position players, 250 games started for SP's, and 400 appearances for relief pitcher's.

The first group up for votes is the 1980's outfielder's, and the poll will be closed at 2:30 CST on Monday, June 20th.

Here are the candidates:

Due to his ability at leadoff and his all time SB record I will go with Rickey Henderson.

Dwight Evans

Good man!

Sadly, Henderson was in fact more productive, but as far as I'm concerned, Dewey has never, ever, really gotten his due (so to speak), and so my bias determined my vote here.

Nobody has ever handled right field in Fenway the way Evans did. One of the few guys in baseball I loved watching play defense. Those balls that bounced around in that RF corner (if you can call it that), that usually turned into triples, Evans would scoop up and hold guys to a single. His ability to read the angles and that arm of his may never be rivaled by a Sox RF'er again.

I have always found Dale Murphy to be very underrated as an outfielder. He could hit for average and also had tremendous power. He should be considered for the HOF.
