Padres Hire New GM
The San Diego Padres have hired a new GM in hopes to turn the franchise around and make it become more relevant. "It has been a long time since people feared the Padres" GM said, "It is going to be tough but it should be fun" he concluded. Not sure how the season will turn out but you should keep an eye on things to see what happens.

San Diego Padres (0-0) vs St. Louis Cardinals (0-0)
March 31 - April 3
Busch Stadium --- St. Louis, MO
Probable Starters:

San Diego 1 - St. Louis 0
San Diego 6 - St. Louis 1

Game 1
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"></head><body><table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="osdyn" width="575"><tr class="masthead"><td align="center" colspan="13">SDG at STL - Busch Stadium -- St. Louis, MO</td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="40%">Mar 31, 2011</td><td align="right" width="5%">4</td><td align="right" width="5%">5</td><td align="right" width="5%">6</td><td align="right" width="5%">7</td><td align="right" width="5%">8</td><td align="right" width="5%">9</td><td align="right" width="5%">10</td><td align="right" width="5%">11</td><td align="right" width="5%">12</td><td align="right" width="5%">R</td><td align="right" width="5%">H</td><td align="right" width="5%">E</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>San Diego Padres (1-0)</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">1</td><td align="right" class="active">1</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">0</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>St. Louis Cardinals (0-1)</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right" class="active">0</td><td align="right">13</td><td align="right">0</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td align="center" colspan="13"><b>W:</b> M. It took 12 innings but thanks to a Will Venable blast the Padres win the season opener against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Padres had a difficult time picking up pitcher Adam Wainwright how actually pitched 11 innings. Motte came in for Wainwright and the second batter he faced was Venable who sent the 3-2 pitch over the center field wall. Padres Starter Mat Latos pitched to two batters and was injured for at least a month. That is a huge blow to a staff who lost Clayton Richard during spring training.

Game 2
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"></head><body><table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="osdyn" width="575"><tr class="masthead"><td align="center" colspan="13">SDG at STL - Busch Stadium -- St. Louis, MO</td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="40%">Apr 2, 2011</td><td align="right" width="5%">1</td><td align="right" width="5%">2</td><td align="right" width="5%">3</td><td align="right" width="5%">4</td><td align="right" width="5%">5</td><td align="right" width="5%">6</td><td align="right" width="5%">7</td><td align="right" width="5%">8</td><td align="right" width="5%">9</td><td align="right" width="5%">R</td><td align="right" width="5%">H</td><td align="right" width="5%">E</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>San Diego Padres (2-0)</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">1</td><td align="right" class="active">1</td><td align="right">8</td><td align="right">0</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>St. Louis Cardinals (0-2)</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right" class="active">0</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">0</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td align="center" colspan="13"><b>W:</b> C. Qualls (1-0) <b>L:</b> R. Franklin (0-1) <b>S:</b> H. Bell (2)</td></tr></table></body></html>

This game was destined for extra innings until Chris Denorfia came through with an rbi triple in the top half of the ninth inning. Heath Bell came in and recorded his second save in two games this season. Tim Stauffer got the start for the Padres and threw seven scoreless innings. Once the team learns to hit they may be something to contend with.

Game 3
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"></head><body><table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="osdyn" width="575"><tr class="masthead"><td align="center" colspan="13">SDG at STL - Busch Stadium -- St. Louis, MO</td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="40%">Apr 3, 2011</td><td align="right" width="5%">1</td><td align="right" width="5%">2</td><td align="right" width="5%">3</td><td align="right" width="5%">4</td><td align="right" width="5%">5</td><td align="right" width="5%">6</td><td align="right" width="5%">7</td><td align="right" width="5%">8</td><td align="right" width="5%">9</td><td align="right" width="5%">R</td><td align="right" width="5%">H</td><td align="right" width="5%">E</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>San Diego Padres (3-0)</td><td align="right">2</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">1</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right" class="active">6</td><td align="right">11</td><td align="right">0</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>St. Louis Cardinals (0-3)</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">0</td><td align="right">1</td><td align="right" class="active">1</td><td align="right">7</td><td align="right">0</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td align="center" colspan="13"><b>W:</b> E. Frieri (1-0) <b>L:</b> J. Garcia (0-1)</td></tr></table></body></html>

This game was alot different then the others. The Padres scored early and often on Jamie Garcia and picked up their third win in a row to start the season. Chris Denofia homered for the first time this season which led to the 6-1 final score. Ernesto Frieri was terrific until he got injured in the bottom of the 6th inning. This isn't the first injury this team has had to endure. The extent of the injury at this point is unknown.

Hard to believe but the Padres are still undefeated. The Dream of a perfect season could be a reality. Ryan Ludwick was the star of the game when he hit a homer in the bottom of the seventh to end the scoreless tie. Dustin Moseley got the start for the Padres but left with an injury. This is the third injury for the Padres starting staff already in four games this season. Hopefully it isn't too bad and can get back on the hill.

Well the Padres are still undefeated. Guess what happened? That is right newly signed Andy Pettite left the game early with a calf tear and has been put on the 15-day disabled list. Padres can't catch a break as far as injuries are concerned but that hasn't stopped them from winning. The sweep this brief two game set against the Giants with the score 4-1. Next up the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Padres Convince Pettite to End Retirement
The injury bug has hit San Diego hard as yet another starting pitcher is placed on the disabled list. "This has become a serious problem" GM said "luckily I was able to cash in a favor from Andy Pettite" he added. Pettite was signed a one-year deal worth over a little more than $1million. "Gm called me and I remember telling him I would do whatever he needed me to after he was able to get me out of a speeding ticket" Pettite said. Should be interesting. Hopefully he has been working out and won't get injured.
