Obviously Justin is done for the year:

This begs the larger question...is he done period? His concussion was 2 1/2 months ago. He isn't coming back his year...how bad was that concussion?

Concussions don't have to end his career and hopefully he will be back next year but, should he? Obviously this was a major blow....why risk more injury?

What do you think?

It's really too early to tell.

Concussions are peculiar injuries, because the effects and recovery times are inconsistent and unpredictable. People sometimes overlook how serious concussions can be, maybe because the effects are sometimes less obvious than other injuries, or because sometimes the effects go away quickly. If a pitcher has TJ, it's unfortunate, but we know a typical recovery time and have a good idea of the chance of recovery. It's not so for concussions.

He could be fine for next year (Aaron Hill's timeline) or it could be something that continues to linger for years and puts his career in jeopardy. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery, but right now the most important thing for Morneau is to continue being patient and not take any foolish chances with his long-term health.

he missed half the season and the Twins still ran away with the division......what an amazing franchise

his injury has been kept on the down low from what i can tell...i agree that he needs to take his time, and hopefully that means he will be back and ready for next year

You need to take precautions with concussions. It's too early to predict that his career is over, but apparently this was a severe concussion, so he's taking his time. Hopefully he can come back next year and contribute.

His wife just gave birth to child...I think he should do the family thing and just rest...maybe get an early start in the new year and see how things are progressing.

I don't want to say he will be done for good. He just needs to rest and be with his family, he will have a great amount of support from them during this, and i'm sure he will come back strong next year. Hope all goes well for Justin, he's one hell of a player.

He's not done, he is a great player and still has a long road ahead of him.

He's not done but he is still, STILL not 100%!

According to him, he still feels "foggy" in the afternoon and might sit out the first 4 or 5 games to start the season. This has probably been one of the worst baseball concussions ever.

I have a hard time saying he'd be done for good. It would be a huge shame if he would be, because he's got tons of good years left.

Sure hope he eases back into the game and gets to 100%.

Good luck to Morneau; just this morning I was reading about Dave Duerson's suicide.

Justin Morneau reported to camp feeling "great." (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/3602/justin-morneau)

Morneau said the fogginess after work-outs was his main symptom/problem. Hasn't felt any fogginess in weeks. (Twitter Link (http://twitter.com/#!/PMac21/status/39730509898727425))

Here is the latest on Moreneau:

Justin Morneau (concussion) took 40 swings in batting practice Tuesday.
Morneau also fielded grounders, turned double plays and received throws at first base. Outdoor conditions can be rough on concussion sufferers, mostly because of the brightness, but he's doing well to this point and plans to wear sunglasses throughout the spring. He's on track to be in the Twins' starting lineup on Opening Day.

Well that will be good if he can come all the way back without problem.

You're telling me! I drafted him in Mudge's Dynasty League :)

Morneau cracked a 3 run double in his first game back since his concussion last July. it was in a "B" game but who cares.
