View Full Version : Greetings Baseball NATION!!!

Hello and Greetings to all! Thanks for having me and excited be here! I am an avid Atlanta Braves fan stranded in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon). Eagerly anticipating my 19th consecutive opening day, 18 of those in Seattle, since it is geographically nearest to my home.
Each summer, I take a week off and do a Baseball Road Trip extravaganza. I pick a city in which to see my beloved Braves play, in a ballpark which I have never been to before. Then I explore the surrounding area and figure out how to cram the most baseball into my seven days as humanly possible. Can't wait til May as I will be seeing Minor League games in Reno and Tucson, and then my Braves for 2 games in Phoenix, and then over to Anaheim for Braves/Angels for 3 games. So far my travels have taken me to 15 of the 30 Major League Stadiums and countless Minor League Parks.
I am a budding freelance writer, but just getting started with that. I would be honored if you would read my latest piece, about being a Baseball FANATIC stranded in Oregon, at WiredOregon.com, or some other stuff on Yahoo! Contributors Network (http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/1037984/jackson_hutton.html) I write about Baseball mostly, and a bit about wrestling as I spend my winters as a high school coach in that sport.
I am married and a father of 2 boys. I own and operate my own business.
Thanks again, here's to a fabulous summer!!!

Very happy to have you here. We will be performing upgrades to the forum tonight. We will be adding a integrated homepage feature as well as member blogging which will allow members of Baseball Nation to have their very own blog. They can manage it, post as many articles/columns as they'd like and even customize it.
We hope to see you around here often. Totally awesome you do these baseball trips. Sit in club level at Angels stadium and diehardbrewgirl will most likely be your server. She is also my lovely girlfriend :)
Welcome to the community!

Welcome. Next to my FAVORITE team, the Yankees, the Braves are one of the teams that I have a soft spot for.
I became fan of them during the early 1990ies, when they built a contender out of their own farm system. Who doesn't remember the phenominal rotation with John Smoltz, Mike Maddux (hired gun), Steve Avery and Tom Glavine.
Enjoy your stay here.
When you visit Anaheim, I'd like to give you the advice to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. It is really worth a visit.

I really admire that you take a week off and sort of travel with your team! That's something I've always wanted to do as I really would like to visit all the Major League ballparks as well, but do not have the time or money to do so. Like CoreyR mentioned I'd love for you to experience club level seating at Angels Stadium! I'm not just saying that because I work there but you really do get some amazing service. You won't even have to leave your seat at all during the game!
We're glad to have you here at the forum so please feel free to stick around! And believe me I know what its like to have to follow your favorite team from across the country. It's not easy being a Brewers fan in Southern California but at least I was able to see them in Milwaukee during my childhood.

Welcome to Baseball Nation! I took a similar trip last year to see the Pirates play in Milwaukee and Chicago, as well as to see a game in Minneapolis. And I'll definitely find some time to read your stuff :)

I hear ya. I mean Greg Maddux. ;)
It should be forbidden to have more than one MLB player with the same family name :aargh4:

Well Biscuit, I gotta confess, I can't stand the Yankees and their unlimited Bankroll. I guess, among other reasons, I'm still bitter about the 96 Series! :pat:
Love minor league ball and the hilarious mascot names though. The Montgomery Biscuits are one of my all time favorites!
