I figured out a system that is working for me right now...

You know, everyone in Pick'em with a large sample of picks is between 49% and 55%, for just a 6% difference.

Not one of us is picking .600 ball, just imagine how hard it is to play .600 ball. On the other hand, none of the large sample pickers is playing bad .400 ball.

I do not have much of system and by the end of May I probably will be where I belong: in the middle of the back. I pick the teams that I like and follow and not necessarily those that I think might win. I always pick the Dodgers and Red Sox and usually the Cubs and Yankees. I do not think Tampa is as good as they are playing so I pick against them (and of course I am wrong, wrong, wrong). I think the Angels and the Tigers will eventually win their respective divisions so I pick them (Oh Boy!). Finally, since I just bought a St. Louis Cardinal hat I usually pick them unless they are playing the Dodgers or Atlanta (because of course I like Atlanta)

Oh, yes! I rarely pick the Mets because I think they are a mess both on and off the field, but I love Jose Reyes as a player.

Pretty scientific, ha. And by the way, I want to thank those that have started, organized, managed, and contributed to this idea. It really is a lot of fun.

I read online(just one article) that professional gamblers prefer baseball and hockey over basketball and football, as far as making money goes. They must have a good system going. Years and years ago, I read that one of the guys, that help makes the baseball odds, wouldn't touch baseball bets, with a ten foot pole.

For the average Joe gambler, football is the biggie and Vegas, has got to love that.

Makes you understand how important the percentages are for a team. While good teams win 60% and the worst teams of the season win 40% of their games, for a 20% difference, the percentage for the 400 pick qualifiers is only 7.2%, from top to bottom.

Hey, that is .662 ball. Got to get those minimum 400 pick'ems in, which is only one full month, or so. May have to increase the total pick'ems so BobH don't get beat out by some cup of coffee stats.:) I'd say at least a half season which is around 1200 picks.

Go figure!...Last night I picked my favorite team to lose...because they were facing Tim Lincecum. Tim gave up the HR ball to Ol' Man Chipper for the only run in the game....and loses the game 1-0. In Tim's 10 losses, the Giants have scored the guy a total of 16 runs. That is pathetic. That game kept me from a perfect 10-0. Maybe that's why I'm bitchin'..:nervous:-BH

Mick has been gaining on me....slowly but surely, and today hasn't helped me one bit. Not only that, I've really butchered the first games NFL picks. That has really been pitiful.

Back to baseball...I hate to think how many games I've blown from not going with my first instincts. Today's Boston and Atlanta games are good examples. I wanted to go with Tampa Bay and the Cards but voted my heart instead of my head as an example. Gets me in trouble all the time!...:worried:

It's been enlightening picking almost every game. I usually don't pay as much attention to the NL as I do the American for obvious reasons. But this year, I've paid more attention and gotten to know the pitching rotations.

Well it looks like Mickey has wrapped up the overall wins and Bob has the percentage crown. If Bob picks all the teams wrong and Mickey picks all the games right today, they would be tied at the top for the GB lead.

Edit: a 15 game swing would give Mickey a 7.5 game lead.

Only thing in real question is who gets the most total wins between Bob, Rick and me Walter.

Mickey and I have known one another awhile from other sites and I can attest to how well he really knows his baseball....to say nothing of what a great Celtic and Pat fan he is. We're both in mourning, I guess, since both the Sox and Braves started the month of Sept. in such great shape...then going down in flames at the end of it....Bummer!
