Brooks Robinson (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/robinbr01.shtml) is a former professional baseball player and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Thank you for agreeing to this interview for the members of Baseball Nation:

Q: Baseball Nation - What would you say you miss most about the game?

A: Brooks Robinson - The thing I miss most about the game is the camaraderie we had with the players. I enjoyed being around the other guys. Spring Training was my favorite part of the year - it was like a paid vacation.

Q: Baseball Nation - In your career was there a single person (player/manager/coach) who had the most significant impact on your approach to the game? Why?

A: Brooks Robinson - My first big league manager, Paul Richards had the most significant impact on my approach to the game. He came in 1955 as a manager for the Orioles and I signed in June 1955. He was way ahead of everyone else. He knew everything about the game of baseball from hitting to fielding. He knew every position and he knew what made each position tick. He meant more to me than anyone else when it came to being a big league player.

Q: Baseball Nation - What were the advantages of playing for one team your entire career?

A: Brooks Robinson - The benefits of playing for one team my whole career have come back to me threefold. I was able to raise my family in the same place. I signed with the Orioles in 1955 and began living in Baltimore full time in 1960. As far as family, friends and players that I played with still around here, living in one place has meant a great deal for me.

Q: Baseball Nation - Looking back over your career, was there one season that stands out to you as your favorite?

A: Brooks Robinson - 1966. It was the year we won our first World Series. It was my favorite season. We had come close in 1960 and 1964. It was so special to finally get into the World Series for the first time in 1966 and then win it as well.

Q: Baseball Nation - You had an amazing career, capped with election to the HOF. What was that moment like for you?

A: Brooks Robinson - Getting into the Hall of Fame was something I never thought about until the last few years of my career. After winning the MVP of the 1970 WS, people would yell to me - "Hey Brooks, you're going into the Hall of Fame." I started thinking about it then. When you retire you have to wait 5 years before you become eligible so you never know. You need 75% of the votes to get in so you never know. When I got in, the feeling was unbelievable. As a youngster growing up, I knew what the Hall of Fame was all about. Just to be in it is incredible. Many of my happiest days are going back every year for Hall of Fame weekend.

Thank you again sir. We appreciate you taking the time to do this interview.
