I wasn't sure where to post this since the majority of this list is dealing with minor leaguers.

I thougth it was nice to post an overview of Dutch born players in the US. The list shows the teams they played with at the end of the 2010 season, with some exceptions like Andruw Jones.

Is there anyone who know how to outline this? This looks quite messy.

Wasn't Sir Sidney Ponson in baseball or is he now done with his career?

He has officially retired. He was released by his last club the Royals in 2009. If my memory serves me well, he has tried to extend his career in the independent Atlantic League, but I am not sure about that.

I don't understand why you guys call him Sir. Sure he was knighted by the Dutch Royal Court, but that doesn't make him a Sir, Lord or whatsoever. That is something typically English, something we don't know in the Netherlands.

Funny, I always thought the "Sir" was always used by the press sarcastically.

What would he have been knighted for?

My understanding is that he has had a rather checkered history off the field (several run-ins with the law) and an unexceptional one on.

p.s. I tried a couple of ways to "clean up" you post, but none was really all that satisfactory. Still, I'll happily make them uniform if you want.

BR, needs to update, unless they're just counting retired players. BR, only has 9 players born in the Netherlands. On a brighter note, no MLB player has died in the Netherlands.

Colorado has 85

Really born in the Netherlands are only 15 on the list. The others are from the Dutch Antilles which still belongs to the Netherlands though.

Regarding the fact why Ponson was knighted, I am not quite sure. If my memory serves me well it was because of his achievements in the MLB.

Regarding "no MLB player has died in the Netherlands", send me the complete roster of the Red Sox. I can take care of that...
