Our farm system was drained quite a bit by the trade for Gonzo. But as it stands right now, according to soxprospects.com (BTW, an awesome site for the Sox farm system), this is the top-5 currently:
1. Ryan Kalish OF - Received a good bit of playing time .252/.305/.405 over 163 AB with Boston.... due to the lengthy DL that the Sox were sporting last season. Not anything mind-blowing.... But he also hit .294/.382/.502 in AA and AAA last season as well. Team health permitting, we probably won't see much of Ryan this season with the big ball club, but look for him to get a lot more time in 2012 after Mike Cameron's contract is over.
2. Jose Iglesias SS - #42 on MLB Top 50 prospects list. His defense is MLB-ready, but the bat is still a work in progress for this Cuban.
3. Anthony Ranaudo SP - Prior to the 2007 Draft, Anthony was one of the more highly coveted HS pitchers. He declined to sign with the Rangers when they drafted him in the 11th Round, deciding to go to LSU instead.... not a bad back-up plan. Anthony had some arm trouble in 2010 college season, after an exceptional 2009 campaign, which hurt his draft stock. The Sox took a chance on him by drafting him late in the first round with a supplemental pick. So far, with only a summer on the Cape under his belt, it looks to be paying off.... 0.00 ERA, 0.61 WHIP, 31 SO, 8 BB, 29.2 IP.
4. Felix Doubront SP - Still considered a prospect, Felix looks to get a lot of time in Boston this season.... as the Sox are a little thin on lefties in the bullpen. Developed as a starter, it's still the plan for this pitcher, but he will fill the team's needs for 2011. Sported a 4.32 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP over 25 IP in his first taste of the MLB last season.
5. Drake Britton SP - A little further off than everyone else in the top five, Drake Britton is one to watch for. After missing the entire 2009 campaign due to TJ surgery, Drake posted a .2.97 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 78 SO and 23 BB in 2010 while in A-Ball. He still has a long way to go, but you have to feel hopeful for a guy that can rebound like that from TJ surgery.
While not as flashy a list as it would have been this time last year, the Sox still have some quality in their farm system. Theo's goal, I believe, is still to have the minors supply a large chunk of the talent that makes it to the big club. He usually gets trumped by the wishes of the rest of the braintrust.... via Boston fans. If it was up to him, he might not have traded for Gonzo.... we all know he was not the motivator behind the deal for Beckett prior to 2007 in which Hanley Ramirez went to Florida.

Kansas City Royals
Mike Moustakas 3B
Eric Hosmer 1B
Mike Montgomery LHP
Wil Meyers C, OF
John Lamb LHP
All were listed in the top 50 minor league prospects this year. Moustakas will see the bigs at some point in 2011. The pitchers could see some time in KC too. Wil Meyers has been moved to the outfield and it is a move that is expected to get him to KC quicker.
The Royals picked the cream from the Brewers future in the Greinke trade, Jake Odorizzi was listed as the 37th best prospect in the minors.
Ned Yost loves what he sees in 20 year old catcher Salvador Perez who will probably start in AA but could also make a big move up this year.
I'm excited! Go Royals!

I guess it's weird, but the truth is that 6 out of 7 of the top Braves prospects are pitchers. Little wonder they could get rid of a top pitching prospect recently in the Upton trade.-BH

As per MLB.com:
RHP Taijuan Walker (#5)
LHP Danny Hultzen (#18)
C Mike Zunino (#23)
INF Nick Franklin (#47)
LHP James Paxton (#61)
The numbers indicate their ranking in MLB.com's top 100 prospect list.
I am wary of Franklin and Hultzen, as both struggled at AAA Tacoma last year, I don't know enough about Paxton or Walker, but Zunino looks like he is going to be money. He inspires the kind of confidence that Jeff Clement always failed to provide. I can't wait to have him behind the plate.

Zunino should be a great prospect, pooh. I followed him while he was at Univ. of Florida. Not only can he hit, but he also has a cannon of an arm and throws many out on the steal. In 2012 he hit well over .300 at both the A and double AA levels. I can imagine he will star with the M's and will end up being a great one.-BH

1. Jonathan Singleton, 1B
2. Carlos Correa, SS
3. George Springer, OF
4. Delino DeShields, 2B
5. Jarred Cosart, RHP
There might be a lot of people out there who will put Correa at the top, but i will wait until he has a full season under his belt. I'm not crazy about Singleton after his doping suspension, but he is the most major-league ready impact prospect we got. Springer is the one i have really high hopes about. Did anyone else notice that DeShields stole 102 bases last year?? 2nd to Hamilton of course, but still pretty dang impressive. Only caught 19 times too.

With Machado losing his prospect status, the O's top heavy system got a little lighter this year.
#1 - Dylan Bundy - The #1/2 overall prospect (depending on which list you look at) without a doubt has electric stuff, made hitters 2-3 years his elder look silly often. Could see him in Baltimore sometime this year.
#2 - Kevin Gausman - Unbelievable fastball, like Bundy, the O's might have another ace in the making and could also arrive in Baltimore sometime in 2013.
#3 - Jonathan Schoop (Scope) - A decent dropoff from 1-2, but Schoop should turn into a pretty good infielder with some decent power. It's possible we could see him at 2B sometime this year.
After that there isn't much. Some are high on Nick Delmonico. Other than that a lot of teenagers with some upside and likely future relievers, bench/role players.
